Outdoor Enthusiasts! Join in this great outdoor experience June 11-14 as we journey into the Wimenuche!
Everyone is welcome to join in this epic hiking adventure in to the great Weminuche Wilderness. The journey begins at the northern edge of the Vallecito Resevoir where Vallecito Creek fills the lake. It will be a 15 mile hike north and west to the Jupiter Mountain (13,830’) overlooking Hazel Lake.
Adventurers will need to gather some essential equipment including a back pack large enough for a 4 day trip, a lightweight yet warm sleeping bag and backpacking tent, food, hiking gear, cooking gear, a water container large enough for 1 day’s supply, and any other gear you might deem essential.
The trip will begin early on Monday, June 11th and conclude the evening of Thursday, June 14th. Each day will bring an average 7.5 mile hike and one day will feature an ascent to the summit of Jupiter Mountain. Those who desire to stay back and enjoy a day of relaxing at camp can opt to forgo the ascent and enjoy the day at camp.
This trail is rated a moderate hike and anyone choosing to participate must be able to endure a great deal of physical activity and is strongly encouraged to engage in a exercise regimen as preparation. Minors younger than 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

Durango Christian Church is launching a new Saturday night worship service are you are invited to attend. It will feature the same great worship and teaching but on a day and time that we hope will connect better with the schedule’s of many Durangoans.
Our service will begin each Saturday night at 6:00 PM and include powerful worship, inspiring teaching, fun and creative children’s church, and a warm welcoming environment that you will love!

• Saturday Night Worship Coming To DCC

This Spring we will be launching a new worship experience on Saturday Nights. For those who find Sunday difficult or even impossible we have a new opportunity to be a part of what God is doing at Durango Christian Church.
Our Saturday night service will start at 6:00 PM, include a variety of exciting and inspiriting music and offer the same challenging Biblical messages delivered by Pastor Jon Alsdorf.
We will begin holding Saturday night services on March 31st so mark your calendar!

• Introducing LIFE Groups at DCC

This fall we are going to be launching at new ministry initiative called LIFE Groups! LIFE Groups are a way for people to connect with one another, study the Bible, consider the Christian life, and serve others in a very safe and friendly environment.
LIFE Groups meet on Sunday mornings at the DCC location as well as throughout the week at various locations throughout the Animas Valley. If you are interested in finding a LIFE Group for visit, please use our Group Finder. There you will be able to peruse all of the groups we currently offer, contact group leaders and even register for a group.

• Experience Passover Celebration

You are invited to join us on April 12th as we welcome Rabbi Victor Blum to Durango Christian Church to lead us in a full Passover Feast.
Rabbi Blum leads the Kehilat Even Israel congregation in Jerusalem and will be guiding our congregation through a genuine Passover Feast as he teaches the scriptural and historical background from the Torah as well as connect each part to the Messiah.
If you have never been to a Passover Feast, this is certain to enrich your understanding of the Old Testament, the prophetic nature of the Passover, and your own approach to partaking in The Lords Supper.

• Financial Peace University

Durango Christian Church will be offering Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University beginning in January 2011. Dave Ramsey, radio personality, author and host on the Fox Business Network teaches sounds financial practices through a series of DVD lessons and group discussions that will help families deal with the financial challenges they face and reach their long term financial goals.

• Happy House: October 31

Each year Durango Christian Church offers a special Halloween Treat to the community of Durango called Happy House. Happy House is carnival style experience geared toward elementary and pre-school aged children. Far from the haunted counterparts, Happy House is a kid friendly place full of games and prizes that has consistently been a favorite stop for hundred’s of children each year.
At Happy House, kids encounter numerous carnival style games they can play and win prizes and candy. From putt putt golf, ring toss, and frisbee throw to pop-corn and cotton candy, happy house is completely free and each child can leave happy house with a bag full of goodies and giant smile on their faces!
You can get involved with happy house by donating some of the 10,000 pieces of candy that we give away at Happy House or volunteer to help by running a game booth, helping crowd flow, or handing out goodies. for more information, contact the church office at 247-1929.

• What’s New At DCC? Everything!

We’re celebrating a new day at Durango Christian Church. We’ve recently undergone a host of changes that have greatly impacted our ministry in very positive ways and we’re excited to share it with our community.
We’ve been working hard on bringing our facilities up to date and create a warm and comfortable environment for ministry and personal spiritual growth. We have replaced our auditorium seating with new, more comfortable chairs that will allow us expand our capacity by more than 50%. We’ve added some new technology tools that will enhance our presentation quality. We’ve redesigned our youth room and...we’ll you have to see it to believe it!
We’ve added lots of new signage - more to come in the next few weeks. We’ve dedicated our entire parking lot to guest parking so our guests don’t have to drive around looking for a spot and walk blocks to get to church. And our youth group is hosing the Crossfire Cafe every Sunday morning at 9 AM with coffee, donuts and more.
We’ve also combined our two worship services into one fully blended worship experience and we love it! It has been great to see people getting to know other church members that they’ve never met before because they were in another service. It’s also been exciting to see so many new faces in worship as well!
So come and check out the new improved Durango Christian Church. It’s the same friendly folks, same Biblical teaching, just better!
